Richard Thomas Welch born 1870,

Shop owner and four children were plenty.

His grandfather Padraic and father Patrick,

Before 40th birthday, fell gravely sick.

No photos or stories have been passed down,

Of this Welch man who lived south of Beantown.

Sadly died too young but left his values.

Family endured after the dire news.

Richard, Thomas found in family tree,

In generations of Welch and Downey.

What could’ve been if he’d lived to old age,

We will never get to write that next page.
