Love, Spanish Steps

The Spanish Steps - Roma, Italy

A warm summer night in Rome, we wander,

Holding hands, it is of love we ponder.

The church of Trinita dei Monti above.

Nothing really matters unless you find love.

Sitting at Spanish Steps with my wife,

Contemplating the beauty of love and life.

“All You Need is Love,” sang John and Paul,

Message that love is most important of all.

Great poets of love Dante and Shakespeare,

Italian or English their feelings made clear.

It was love that mattered most to the heart,

A deeply human need that sets us apart.

And once you find love, nothing else really matters,

All that seemed to have value, vanishes and scatters.
